What is Male Socket 32×1″ DADEX PPRc ?
Description
The Male Socket 32×1″ DADEX PPRc PN25 (also known as Male Threaded Adapter, Male Adapter Socket, or Male Transition Fitting) is a hybrid fitting from Dadex’s Polydex PPR (Polypropylene Random Copolymer) piping system. It transitions from a 32mm PPR pipe (fusion-welded end) to a 1″ male BSP (British Standard Pipe) threaded connection. This allows seamless integration of PPR piping with threaded metal components like valves, pumps, faucets, boilers, or existing galvanized/copper systems.
Dadex Polydex fittings are premium quality, typically green in color, with a brass insert for the threaded portion to ensure durability and leak-proof threading. The brass is often hexagonal for easy wrench tightening.
Specifications
- Brand: Dadex (Polydex series)
- Type: Male Threaded Adapter / Male Socket
- Sizes: 32mm (PPR socket end) x 1″ (male BSP thread)
- Pressure Rating: PN25 (maximum 25 bar at 20°C; suitable for high-pressure applications, derated at higher temperatures)
- Material: Body – Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPRc / PP-R Type 3); Thread – Brass insert (hexagonal for better grip)
- Color: Green (standard for Polydex)
- Standards: Compliant with DIN 8077/8078, often manufactured with technology from partners like Wavin/Ekoplastik
- Temperature Range: -20°C to +95°C (continuous hot water up to ~70-80°C depending on pressure; intermittent up to 110°C)
- Thread Type: BSP (tapered or parallel, typically tapered for sealing)
- Key Properties:
- Non-toxic, food-safe, and antimicrobial options available
- Corrosion-resistant (no scaling or rust)
- Low thermal conductivity (good insulation)
- Chemical-resistant
- Lifespan: 50+ years under proper conditions
- Lightweight and high impact strength
This is part of the PN25 series, ideal for robust hot water and pressurized systems.
Usage and Applications
This male socket is used for:
- Hot and Cold Water Supply/Distribution: Connecting PPR lines to threaded fixtures (taps, showers, water heaters, storage tanks) in residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing.
- Heating Systems: Transition to radiators, boilers, pumps, or manifolds in central heating.
- HVAC/Chilled Water Systems: Dadex Polydex is approved for air conditioning and chilled water lines due to excellent insulation and condensation resistance.
- Other: Industrial fluid transfer (non-aggressive), solar heating systems, or mixing with existing threaded piping.
It provides a reliable transition from fusion-welded PPR (permanent, leak-free) to threaded connections (serviceable).
Not suitable for: Aggressive chemicals, direct UV exposure (insulate or bury), or over-tightening (risk of cracking brass insert).
Installation
One end uses socket fusion welding (to PPR pipe), the other uses threaded connection (to metal fitting).
Required Tools:
- PPR pipe cutter, welding machine with 32mm dies, deburrer
- Teflon tape (PTFE) or thread sealant paste
- Adjustable wrench or pipe wrench (use on hex brass part only)
Step-by-Step Installation:
- PPR Side (Fusion Welding):
- Cut 32mm PPR pipe squarely, deburr/chamfer edges, clean.
- Mark insertion depth.
- Preheat welding machine to ~260°C.
- Heat pipe and fitting socket simultaneously (for 32mm PN25: ~8-10 seconds heating, 4-6 seconds changeover).
- Join straight (no twisting), hold 5-10 seconds, cool fully (~4-6 minutes).
- Threaded Side:
- Apply Teflon tape (5-7 wraps clockwise) or approved thread sealant on the male brass threads only.
- Screw into female threaded component hand-tight, then tighten 1-2 turns with wrench (on hex portion to avoid damaging PPR body).
- Do not over-tighten (max torque ~30-40 Nm typical for 1″); avoid hemp/flax as it can swell and crack.
- General:
- Align properly, support pipes to avoid stress.
- Pressure test system after full cooling (wait 1-2 hours).
- Professional installation recommended for compliance and warranty.
