What is Dadex Nikasi upvc End Cap 75mm ?
The Dadex Nikasi 75mm End Cap is a critical component of the Nikasi uPVC system, specifically designed for Soil, Waste, and Vent (SWV) applications. It is used to permanently or temporarily seal the end of a 75mm pipe run.
Below is the detailed information regarding its description, specifications, and installation.
1. Description
The Nikasi system is a high-quality uPVC (un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) solution for building drainage. The 75mm End Cap is a “stop-end” fitting used to terminate a pipeline. Unlike standard water supply fittings, the Nikasi range is optimized for gravity-fed waste systems, though it is built to handle the internal pressures typical of vent stacks and high-rise drainage.
-
System Name: Dadex Nikasi
-
Material: uPVC (Rigid, non-corrosive plastic)
-
Color: Light Grey
-
Connection Type: Available in Solvent Cement Joint (weld) or Rubber Ring Joint (push-fit).
2. Specifications
| Feature | Detail |
| Diameter | 75mm (Nominal Outside Diameter) |
| Standard | ISO 3633 / EN 1329 / PS 3214 |
| Pressure Rating | Designed for SWV (Soil, Waste, Vent) – can handle typical head pressures in drainage. |
| Chemical Resistance | High resistance to domestic acids, alkalis, and salts. |
| Temperature | Suitable for hot/cold waste water (softening point $> 80$°C). |
| Wall Thickness | Approx. 3.0mm (conforming to SWV standards). |
3. Usage & Applications
The 75mm size is commonly used in medium-capacity drainage lines, such as:
-
Ventilation: Capping off vent stacks that terminate on rooftops.
-
Drainage: Closing off the end of waste lines from sinks, floor drains, or washing machines.
-
Future Expansion: Sealing a line that is intended to be extended later.
-
Cleanouts: Sometimes used as a temporary cap during construction to prevent debris from entering the sewer system.
4. Installation
There are two primary methods for installing the Dadex Nikasi End Cap:
A. Solvent Cement Method (Permanent)
-
Clean: Use a dry cloth to remove dust/moisture from the pipe end and the inside of the cap.
-
Degrease: Apply a uPVC cleaner/degreaser to both surfaces.
-
Apply Cement: Use a brush to apply an even layer of Dadex Solvent Cement to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the cap.
-
Join: Push the cap onto the pipe immediately with a slight twist. Hold for 20–30 seconds.
-
Cure: Allow at least 24 hours before full pressure testing.
B. Rubber Ring / Push-Fit Method (Flexible)
-
Chamfer: Ensure the pipe end is cut square and has a $15$° chamfer (beveled edge).
-
Lubricate: Apply a silicone-based lubricant or soap solution to the rubber ring inside the cap.
-
Mark Depth: Mark the insertion depth on the pipe.
-
Push: Push the pipe into the cap until it hits the mark.
-
Expansion Gap: Pull the pipe back by about 10mm to allow for thermal expansion/contraction.
5. Key Advantages
-
Smooth Bore: Prevents the buildup of solids or algae.
-
Self-Extinguishing: Does not support combustion in case of fire.
-
Non-Conductive: Safe for use in modern building structures.
-
Durability: uPVC does not rust or corrode like old cast iron (C.I.) pipes.
