What is Dadex Niasi upvc End cap 50mm ?
The Dadex Nikasi (uPVC) 50mm End Cap is a specialized fitting used in Soil, Waste, and Vent (SWV) systems. This component securely seals the end of a 50mm pipe, preventing leaks or odors and preserving the drainage or ventilation network’s integrity.
1. Description & Usage
The Dadex Nikasi End Cap is a “socket-style” fitting made from high-quality un plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC). Unlike pressure pipes for water supply, this is part of the Nikasi range specifically engineered for gravity-flow and atmospheric vent systems.
-
Primary Usage: To permanently or temporarily close a pipeline or vent stack.
-
Applications:
-
Drainage: Closing off unused pipe branches in waste systems (sinks, laundry).
-
Sewer: Blocking ends of 50mm sewer lines during testing or construction.
-
Ventilation: Capping air vents (though a “Vent Cowl” is preferred for final air release, an end cap is used for total closure).
-

3. Installation Methods
Depending on the specific variant you have (Solvent vs. Rubber Ring), follow these steps:
A. Solvent Cement Jointing (Permanent)
-
Preparation: Cut the 50mm pipe square and remove all burrs from the edge.
-
Cleaning: Wipe both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the End Cap with a dry cloth or a dedicated uPVC cleaner/primer.
-
Application: Apply a thin, even layer of Dadex Solvent Cement to the pipe end and the fitting socket.
-
Assembly: Push the cap onto the pipe immediately and give it a slight twist (about $90^{\circ}$) to ensure even distribution.
-
Curing: Hold for 30 seconds. Allow at least 24 hours before full pressure/usage testing.
B. Rubber Ring / Push-Fit (Flexible)
-
Chamfering: Create a slight angle (chamfer) on the edge of the pipe to prevent the rubber ring from being displaced.
-
Lubrication: Apply a soap solution or uPVC lubricant to the pipe end and the rubber seal.
-
Push: Insert the pipe into the cap until it hits the internal stop.
-
Expansion Gap: Pull the pipe back by about 10mm to allow for thermal expansion/contraction.
4. Why Use Dadex Nikasi?
-
Leak Proof: The precision-engineered sockets ensure a tight fit.
-
Smooth Interior: Prevents the buildup of waste or deposits that cause blockages.
-
Chemical Resistance: Highly resistant to common household acids, alkalis, and salts found in sewage.
