What is Aquadex Dadex upvc Pressure pipe 4″ ?
The Aquadex system by Dadex is a premium uPVC (Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) pressure piping system specifically engineered for high-pressure water transmission. While often associated with municipal water mains, its chemical resistance and thermal properties make it suitable for specific HVAC applications like chilled water lines.
1. Product Description
Aquadex pipes are manufactured from high-quality, un plasticized PVC, ensuring they remain rigid and durable under pressure. Unlike standard PVC, uPVC does not contain phthalates or BPA, making it safe for potable water.
-
Color: Typically Dark Gray.
-
Jointing Type: Available in Solvent Cement Jointing (Z-Joint) or Rubber Ring Push-Fit (for larger diameters/underground use).
-
Standards: Conforms to BS 3505 and BS EN 1452.
2. Technical Specifications (4″ Pipe)
For a 4-inch (110mm) nominal diameter pipe, the performance varies by “Class,” which determines the wall thickness and maximum working pressure.
| Specification | Details for 4″ (110mm) Pipe |
| Available Classes | Class B (6 Bar), Class C (9 Bar), Class D (12 Bar), Class E (15 Bar) |
| Pressure Rating | 87 psi (B) to 217 psi (E) |
| Standard Length | 4 meters or 6 meters |
| Operating Temp | Optimal up to 20°C; Max intermittent up to 45°C |
| Density | 1.42 – 1.46 g/cm³ |
| Softening Point | > 80°C (Vicat) |
Critical Note on Hot Water: uPVC is not recommended for continuous hot water supply (above 45°C). For hot and cold water plumbing, Dadex recommends their Polydex (PPRC) or PEX systems. Aquadex is primarily for Cold Water and Chilled Water (HVAC).
3. Usage & Applications
-
HVAC Systems: Specifically used for Chilled Water Lines in refrigeration plants and cooling towers. Its low thermal conductivity reduces “sweating” (condensation) compared to metal pipes.
-
Potable Water Supply: Main distribution lines for residential and commercial buildings.
-
Industrial: Transportation of mineral acids, alkalis, and salt solutions due to high chemical inertness.
-
Irrigation: High-pressure tube well delivery and sprinkler mainlines.
4. Installation Guidelines
Proper installation is vital to prevent leaks and account for thermal expansion.
