What is Euro Gulf upvc Tee 3/4″ ?
Euro Gulf uPVC Tee 3/4″ Sch 40 is a T-shaped pressure fitting manufactured by Euro Gulf Industries (Pvt.) Ltd., a Pakistani company specializing in uPVC, CPVC, PPR-C, and PE pipes and fittings since 2005. It connects three sections of 3/4″ Schedule 40 uPVC pipe at 90° angles for branching or combining flow in piping systems.
Description
This is a standard straight tee (Socket x Socket x Socket) made from unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC), a rigid, thermoplastic material without plasticizers. It is white in color, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and smooth-bored for efficient flow. The “Sch 40” designation refers to its wall thickness and pressure-handling capability per ASTM standards. It is designed for solvent-cement (glued) joints.
Key Specifications
- Material: uPVC (Type 1, Grade 1, Cell Class 12454 typical for this grade)
- Size: 3/4″ nominal (actual pipe OD ≈ 1.050″)
- Schedule: 40 (standard wall thickness for pressure applications)
- Connection Type: Slip/socket (solvent weld) on all three ends
- Standards: ASTM D2466 (fittings), compatible with ASTM D1785 Sch 40 pipe
- Maximum Operating Temperature: 140°F (60°C) continuous
- Pressure Rating (at 73°F / 23°C): Approximately 480 psi for equivalent 3/4″ Sch 40 pipe/fittings (non-shock water service). Fittings are often rated conservatively at ~60% of pipe rating in some guidelines.
- Temperature Derating (multiply pressure rating by these factors):
- 80°F: 0.88
- 90°F: 0.75
- 100°F: 0.62
- 110°F: 0.50
- 120°F: 0.40
- 130°F: 0.30
- 140°F: 0.22 (maximum recommended temperature)
- Design Life: 50 years (per ISO standards, when properly installed)
- Other Properties: High chemical resistance, no scaling, low maintenance, fire-retardant, suitable for indoor/outdoor use
Note on Hot Water: uPVC is not recommended for continuous hot water supply above ~60°C (e.g., domestic hot water lines at 60–80°C). Use CPVC (which Euro Gulf also manufactures) for hot water. It works well for cold water and warm/chilled fluids up to 60°C.
Applications and Usage (HVAC + Hot/Cold Water Supply)
Euro Gulf uPVC Sch 40 fittings are approved for pressure and non-pressure systems, including:
- Cold/potable water supply — Residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing.
- HVAC and refrigeration — Chilled water lines, condensate drains, air conditioning, and cooling systems (explicitly listed by the manufacturer).
- Drainage, sewer, soil, waste, rainwater, and ventilation.
- Irrigation, swimming pools, RO plants, ultra-pure water, food/beverage processing, and cable conduits.
Installation
uPVC Sch 40 uses solvent cement welding (no threading or heat fusion):
- Cut pipe square and deburr/chamfer ends.
- Dry-fit the tee and mark insertion depth.
- Clean surfaces with primer (recommended for pressure systems).
- Apply uPVC-compatible solvent cement to both pipe and fitting sockets.
- Immediately insert pipe with a ¼-turn twist and hold firmly for 30 seconds.
Tips:
- Use only Sch 40 pipe and compatible primer/cement.
- Allow for thermal expansion (uPVC expands ~0.000036 in/in/°F).
- Test the system hydrostatically after curing.
- Installation is quick, low-labor, and requires no special tools beyond a cutter, deburring tool, and applicator.
Summary
The Euro Gulf uPVC Tee 3/4″ Sch 40 is a reliable, cost-effective fitting for cold water plumbing and HVAC/chilled water systems.
