What is End Cap 63mm EG PPRc ?
An End Cap 63mm EG PPRc PN 25 is a heavy-duty plumbing fitting used to permanently or temporarily seal the end of a pipeline.1 The “EG” typically refers to the brand or a specific manufacturing grade, while “PN 25” denotes its high-pressure rating.
1. Description and Usage
The end cap acts as a “dead-end” for a 63mm PPRc pipe. Because it is rated PN 25, it is engineered for the most demanding sections of a plumbing system.
-
HVAC Systems: Used to seal off branch lines in chilled water or heating loops.
-
Hot & Cold Water Supply: Ideal for high-rise buildings or industrial facilities where water pressure is significant.
-
System Testing: Often installed at the end of a new line to allow for hydrostatic pressure testing before fixtures are attached.
2. Technical Specifications
The “PN 25” rating is the standout feature here, indicating a higher wall thickness and pressure tolerance than the standard PN 16 or PN 20 fittings.
| Parameter | Specification |
| Material | Polypropylene Random Copolymer (Type 3) |
| Diameter | 63mm (Outer Diameter) |
| Pressure Rating | PN 25 (Capable of withstanding 25 Bar / ~362 PSI) |
| Max Temperature | 95°C (Short-term), 70°C (Long-term) |
| Standard | DIN 8077/8078 or ISO 15874 |
| Joint Type | Socket Fusion (Heat Welding) |
3. Key Benefits
-
High Pressure Resistance: The PN 25 rating ensures it won’t burst under the surges common in HVAC pumps.
-
Corrosion Proof: Unlike metal caps, it will not rust or scale, maintaining water purity.
-
Chemical Resistance: Safe for various industrial fluids and treated water.
-
Low Thermal Conductivity: Helps prevent heat loss in hot water lines and condensation in chilled HVAC lines.
4. Installation Steps (Socket Fusion)
PPRc fittings are not glued or threaded; they are heat-fused to create a single, leak-proof plastic bond.
-
Preparation: Ensure the 63mm pipe end is cut square and is completely clean and dry.
-
Heating: Use a PPRc welding machine with 63mm dies set to 260°C.
-
Insertion: Simultaneously push the pipe and the end cap into the heating dies. For 63mm pipe, heat for approximately 24–30 seconds.
-
Joining: Remove them from the dies and immediately push the cap onto the pipe without twisting.
-
Cooling: Hold the joint firmly for 30 seconds and allow it to cool completely (approx. 6–8 minutes) before applying pressure.
5. Usage Precautions
-
No Threading: Never attempt to thread a standard PPRc end cap; use a “Threaded End Plug” if you need a removable mechanical connection.
-
UV Exposure: If used outdoors, the fitting should be painted or insulated, as UV rays can degrade PPRc over several years.
-
Expansion: In hot water HVAC lines, ensure the pipe run has enough “expansion loops” so the end cap doesn’t experience excessive mechanical stress.
