What is Dadex Nikasi upvc Red Tee ?
Dadex Nikasi product line, a Red Tee (Reducing Tee) is a three-way fitting used to connect a smaller branch pipe (usually 50mm) to a larger main pipeline (usually 110mm).
Dadex offers these fittings in two distinct jointing styles: Push-Fit (Rubber Ring) and Solvent Joint.
1. Product Description
-
Nikasi Red Tee (Reducing Tee): A “T” shaped fitting where the main run is 110mm (4 inches) and the perpendicular branch is 50mm (2 inches).
-
Push-Fit (R/R): Features a built-in groove with a rubber seal. The pipe is simply lubricated and pushed in.
-
Solvent Joint: Features a smooth internal socket. The pipe and fitting are chemically “welded” together using solvent cement.

3. Usage & Applications
-
Vertical Stacks: Connecting 50mm waste lines (from sinks/baths) into the 110mm main soil stack.
-
Ventilation: Diverting air for plumbing vents to prevent trap siphoning.
-
Drainage: Merging secondary greywater lines into the primary sewer line.
4. Installation Methods
A. Push-Fit (Rubber Ring) Jointing
-
Clean:
- debris.
- Place the rubber ring correctly in the groove and clear away any debris.
- Position the rubber ring properly in the groove and verify there is no debris.
- Make sure you seat the rubber ring in the groove and keep the area free of debris.
-
Chamfer: The pipe end must be beveled (angled) so it doesn’t tear the ring.
-
Lubricate: Apply Dadex lubricant (or soap solution) to the pipe end and the ring.
-
Insert: Push the pipe fully into the socket, then pull it back 10mm. This gap allows the pipe to expand and contract with temperature changes without cracking the fitting.
B. Solvent Jointing
-
Clean & Roughen: Clean both surfaces with a degreaser; lightly sand the pipe end and internal socket.
-
Apply Cement: Use a brush to apply an even coat of Dadex Solvent Cement to both parts.
-
Join: Push the pipe in quickly with a quarter-turn. Hold for 30 seconds.
-
Cure: Do not move the joint for 10 minutes. Wait 24 hours before full water testing.
5. Summary Comparison
Critical Note: Despite being called “Pressure Fittings” in some retail contexts, Nikasi is a Drainage (SWV) system. It is designed for the weight of water and waste moving by gravity, not for high-pressure water pumps or municipal mains.
-
Choose Push-Fit for long vertical runs or outdoor areas where the pipe will expand in the heat.
