What is Dadex Nikasi upvc Multi Floor Trap ?
Dadex Nikasi engineers a premier uPVC pipe system for Soil, Waste, and Vent (SWV) applications. It enables building drainage networks to safely transport waste solids and liquids while venting sewer gases.
The Multi Floor Trap is a specialized fitting within this system used to collect waste from multiple sources (like showers, floor drains, and basins) on different floors while maintaining a water seal to prevent foul odors from entering the building.
1. Description & Features Dadex Nikasi upvc Multi Floor Trap
-
Material: Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC), which is tough, rigid, and resistant to chemicals.
-
System Type: SWV (Soil, Waste, and Vent). Dadex Nikasi designs the system for non-pressure gravity flow and builds it to withstand standard building drainage head pressures.
-
Key Benefits:
-
Smooth Bore: Minimal friction prevents the buildup of deposits and blockages.
-
Corrosion Resistant: Immune to galvanic or electrolytic corrosion and resistant to acids/alkalis found in domestic waste.
-
Self-Extinguishing: Does not support combustion (fire safe).
-
Lightweight: Approximately 1/5th the weight of cast iron, making it easier to install at heights.
-
2. Technical Specifications
Dadex Nikasi products are manufactured to meet high international and local standards:
-
Standards: Conforms to ISO 3633, EN 1329, and PS 3214.
-
Diameter Range: Common sizes include 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 110mm, 160mm, and 200mm.
-
Jointing Options: * Solvent Cement Joint: For permanent, chemical-welded connections.
-
Rubber Ring (Z-Joint): For flexible, leak-proof joints that allow for thermal expansion.
-
-
Wall Thickness: Typically 3.0mm to 3.2mm for standard building sizes (110mm).
3. Usage: Drain, Sewer, and Ventilation
The Nikasi system is used for:
-
Soil Pipe: Transporting “black water” (toilet waste) to the main sewer.
-
Waste Pipe: Transporting “grey water” (sinks, showers, washing machines).
-
Vent Pipe: Vital for air circulation in the plumbing system. It prevents “siphoning” (where the water seal in a trap is sucked out) and allows sewer gases to escape through the roof.
-
Multi Floor Trap: Acts as a central collection point for several waste lines on a floor, ensuring only one main stack connection is needed while maintaining an airtight odor seal.
4. Installation Guidelines
To ensure a leak-proof and long-lasting system, follow these steps:
Preparation
-
Cutting: Use a fine-tooth saw to cut the pipe square.
-
De-burring: Remove all burrs from the inside and outside edges.
-
Chamfering: For rubber ring joints, chamfer the edge to a 15° angle to prevent the ring from dislodging during insertion.
Jointing (Solvent Method)
-
Clean both the pipe end and fitting socket with a degreasing cleaner.
-
Apply an even coat of Dadex Solvent Cement to both surfaces.
-
Insert the pipe immediately and hold for 20–30 seconds. Do not twist.
Jointing (Rubber Ring Method)
-
Clean the socket and ring.
-
Apply a lubricant (like soap solution) to the pipe end.
-
Push the pipe into the socket fully, then withdraw it by 10mm. This gap is crucial to allow for thermal expansion and contraction.
Support & Fixing
-
Use pipe clips/brackets at regular intervals (approx. every 1.2m to 1.5m for vertical stacks) to prevent sagging or stress on joints.
5. Maintenance
-
Access Points: Ensure “Access Y” or “Access Doors” are installed at changes in direction to allow for easy cleaning/rodding if a blockage occurs.
-
UV Protection: If pipes are installed externally and exposed to direct sunlight, they should be painted with a light-colored exterior-grade emulsion to prevent UV degradation.
