What is Dadex Nikasi upvc Elbow 75mm ?
Dadex Nikasi UPVC Elbow 75mm is a key fitting from Dadex Eternit Limited’s Nikasi range, a leading uPVC (un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride) system in Pakistan for soil, waste, and vent (SWV) applications, including drainage, sewer, and ventilation systems.
Description
The Nikasi Elbow 75mm is a 90-degree bend (or sometimes specified as 45-degree variants) used to change the direction of pipe runs in plumbing systems. It connects 75mm diameter uPVC pipes.
Dadex Nikasi offers fittings in two main jointing types:
- Solvent cement joint (solvent weld/glued) — permanent, chemical-bonded connection.
- Push-fit / rubber ring joint (also called rubber ring or R/R joint) — easy, no-glue installation with a rubber seal for watertight fit, allowing some flexibility.
These are non-pressure fittings optimized for gravity-fed drainage (not high-pressure water supply like Aquadex series). They handle typical internal pressures from waste flow, vent stacks, and drainage heads in buildings. Common variants include standard elbows, plug elbows (with access/cleanout plug), and access bends.
Material: High-quality uPVC compound, grey color (standard for SWV systems), lightweight, durable, and corrosion-resistant.
Usage and Applications
Primarily for Soil, Waste, and Vent (SWV) systems:
- Drainage — Carrying wastewater from toilets (soil), sinks, showers, and other fixtures (waste).
- Sewer — Part of building drainage networks leading to main sewers.
- Ventilation — Vent stacks/pipes to equalize air pressure, prevent siphonage, and allow gases to escape safely.
- Also suitable for rainwater downpipes in some cases.
Advantages:
- Low flow resistance (smooth interior).
- Corrosion-free and chemical-resistant.
- Resistant to organic growth/bacterial buildup.
- Lightweight and easy to handle/install.
- Long service life with no rust or scaling.
Not intended for pressurized potable water supply or underground sewer mains (Dadex has separate Flowline system for that).
Specifications
- Size: 75mm nominal diameter (common in Nikasi range: 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 110mm, 160mm, 200mm).
- Standards/Conformance:
- Pipes: ISO 3633:2002(E) / EN 1329:1999 and PS 3214:1992 (Pakistan).
- Fittings (solvent cement joints): ISO 3633:2002(E) / EN 1329:1999.
- Fittings (rubber ring joints): Compatible with ISO/EN standards for SWV.
- Pressure Rating: Non-pressure / gravity systems — designed for SWV drainage (handles typical head pressures in vent stacks and high-rise drainage, but not classified as pressure pipe like Class ratings in water supply).
- Temperature Resistance: Suitable for hot/cold waste up to typical sanitary discharge temperatures (uPVC generally up to ~60°C continuous).
- Jointing Options: Solvent cement (permanent) or push-fit rubber ring (dismantleable if needed).
Installation
- Preparation:
- Cut pipe ends square and deburr/chamfer using appropriate tools.
- Clean pipe and fitting socket with cleaner/primer if using solvent joint.
- Solvent Cement Joint:
- Apply Dadex-approved uPVC solvent cement evenly to pipe end and fitting socket.
- Quickly insert pipe fully into socket with twist (1/4 turn) and hold for a few seconds.
- Allow curing time per cement instructions (usually minutes to hours depending on temperature).
- Permanent — not easily reversible.
- Push-Fit / Rubber Ring Joint:
- Ensure rubber ring is properly seated in the fitting’s groove.
- Lubricate pipe end and ring with approved lubricant (soap water or silicone-based, avoid petroleum).
- Push pipe firmly into socket until it seats fully (may need some force).
- Easier and faster, allows minor adjustments or disassembly.
- General Tips:
- Support pipes adequately to prevent sagging.
- Use access fittings (like plug elbows or inspection bends) at changes in direction for cleaning.
- Follow local plumbing codes (e.g., in Pakistan, align with building regulations for SWV).
- Install in dry conditions for solvent joints; avoid extreme cold/heat during curing.
