What is Dadex Nikasi Access Tee 110mm ?
The Dadex Nikasi Access plug Tee (110mm) is a specialized component of the Nikasi uPVC system, designed specifically for non-pressure applications like soil, waste, and vent (SWV) systems.
Unlike pressure pipes used for water supply, the Nikasi range is engineered to handle the gravity-led flow of sewage and the ventilation of gases in residential and commercial buildings.
Description & Design
The Access Tee (often called an “Inspection Tee”) is a T-shaped fitting with a removable threaded cap on the branch or the back. This design allows plumbers to access the internal pipeline for cleaning, clearing blockages, or inserting inspection cameras without dismantling the entire stack.
Technical Specifications
| Feature | Details |
| Material | Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC) |
| Diameter | 110mm (Standard size for main soil stacks/sewer lines) |
| Joint Type | Rubber Ring (Push-fit) or Solvent Cement (depending on specific variant) |
| Standard | Manufactured according to PS:3214 / BS:4514 standards |
| Chemical Resistance | Resistant to domestic cleaning chemicals and corrosive sewer gases |
| Temperature | Suitable for intermittent hot water discharge (up to 90°C) |
Usage in Drain, Sewer, and Ventilation
The Nikasi system is built for three primary functions:
-
Drainage: Collecting waste from toilets (black water) and sinks (grey water).
-
Sewerage: Transporting that waste to the main municipal line or septic tank.
-
Ventilation: This is crucial. The Access Tee is often placed at the base of a vertical stack or near bends to allow air to circulate, preventing “siphon age” (where the vacuum pulls water out of your P-traps, letting smells in).
Installation Guidelines
The 110mm Nikasi fittings are favored for their “Z-joint” technology (rubber ring joints) which allow for thermal expansion.
-
Step 1: Preparation: Ensure the pipe ends are square-cut and chamfered (beveled at a 15° angle).
-
Step 2: Lubrication: Apply Dadex jointing lubricant to the rubber ring and the spigot end of the pipe.
-
Step 3: Insertion: Push the pipe into the Access Tee socket until it hits the stop, then pull it back about 10mm. This gap allows the pipe to expand and contract with temperature changes without cracking the fitting.
-
Step 4: Positioning: Ensure the “access door” (the cap) is facing a direction where a technician can actually reach it later—don’t bury the cap behind a wall!
Key Benefits
-
Leak-Proof: The precision-engineered rubber rings ensure a watertight seal even under slight ground movement.
-
Smooth Bore: The internal surface is glass-smooth, which prevents “scaling” or waste buildup that causes clogs.
-
Durability: uPVC does not rust or corrode, giving it a lifespan of 50+ years when installed correctly.
