What is AGM upvc Wye 8″ ?
The AGM UPVC Wye 8″ Schedule 40 is a large-diameter industrial-grade fitting manufactured by Arabian Gulf Manufacturers Ltd.1 (AGM) in Saudi Arabia.2 Often referred to as a “45° Wye,” this fitting is used to create a branch line at a 45-degree angle from the main pipeline, allowing for smooth fluid flow with minimal turbulence.
Because of its 8-inch size, it is primarily used in main drainage lines, municipal sewerage, and high-volume industrial water systems.
1. Product Description
-

-
Design: A “Y” shaped fitting with three openings of equal size (8 inches).
-
Color: White (standard for Sch 40 pressure and sanitary fittings).6
-
Joint Type: Solvent Weld (Socket/Slip) on all three ends.
2. Technical Specifications
| Feature | Details |

3. Usage & Applications
Given its large 8-inch diameter, this Wye is essential for:
-
Main Sewerage Lines: Used in the “Drain, Waste, and Vent” (DWV) systems of large buildings or underground municipal networks to merge lateral lines into a main stack.
-
Industrial Water Supply: High-volume cooling water or process water distribution.
-
Storm water Drainage: Collecting rainwater from large roof areas or parking lots.
-
Irrigation: Main header lines for large-scale agricultural irrigation projects.
4. Installation Guidelines
Installation of 8″ fittings requires careful handling due to the weight and the amount of solvent cement needed.
-
Cutting & Chamfering: Ensure the 8″ pipe is cut perfectly square. Large pipes must be chamfered (beveled) at a 10–15° angle to prevent the pipe edge from scraping the cement off the fitting socket.
-
Dry Fit: Mark the “insertion depth” on the pipe to ensure it seats fully into the Wye.
-
Primer Application: Use a heavy-duty UPVC primer. Apply liberally to the inside of the Wye and the outside of the pipe. This “softens” the 8″ thick walls for a better bond.
-
Solvent Cementing: Use Heavy-Bodied UPVC Cement (specifically for large diameters). Apply a thick layer to the pipe and a medium layer to the Wye.
-
Assembly: This often requires two people. Push the pipe into the Wye with a slight twist. Because of the size, hold it firmly for at least 1–2 minutes to prevent “push-out” caused by the tight fit and air pressure.
-
Curing Time: For an 8″ joint, wait at least 24 hours before pressure testing.
5. Why AGM Saudi Arabia?
AGM is a preferred brand for “8-inch” large-scale fittings because:
-
Heavy-Duty Molding: Large fittings are prone to cracking under soil pressure; AGM’s molding process ensures consistent wall thickness.
-
SASO Approved: Being a Saudi product, it is tested for extreme heat resistance, which is vital for transport and outdoor storage in hot climates.
-
Lead-Free: Safe for potable water supply systems.
