What is AGM upvc Tee 4″ ?
The AGM uPVC Tee (4″ Schedule 40) is a high-quality plumbing component manufactured by Arabian Gulf Manufacturers Ltd.1 (AGM) in Saudi Arabia.2 It is specifically engineered for both pressure water supply and non-pressure drainage/sewerage systems, making it a versatile choice for residential and industrial projects.
1. Description & Overview
The AGM Tee is a T-shaped fitting used to branch a single pipeline into two separate directions.4 Made from Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC), it is rigid and does not contain plasticizers, ensuring it remains strong and chemical-resistant over time.
-
Origin: Saudi Arabia (Riyadh).
-
Brand: AGM (Arabian Gulf Manufacturers).
-
Material: High-grade uPVC (using SABIC raw materials).
-
Appearance: Typically White (Standard for Schedule 40).
2. Technical Specifications
Fittings produced by AGM adhere to international ASTM standards to ensure compatibility with global piping systems.
| Feature | Specification |
| Nominal Size | 4 inches (approx. 114.3mm Outer Diameter) |
| Schedule (Rating) | Schedule 40 (Standard Wall Thickness) |
| Standards | ASTM D2466 (Pressure) & ASTM D2665 (DWV/Drainage) |
| Pressure Rating | Approx. 220 PSI (at 23°C/73°F) |
| Temperature Limit | Max 60°C (140°F) |
| Joint Type9 | Solvent Weld (Socket/Slip)10 |
3. Usage & Applications
This fitting is dual-rated, meaning it is certified for two primary types of systems:
-
Potable Water Supply: Suitable for cold water distribution in buildings and irrigation systems due to its high pressure tolerance.
-
Sewerage & Drainage (DWV): Used in “Drain, Waste, and Vent” (DWV) systems. Its smooth inner surface prevents clogs and resists corrosive sewage gases.
-
Industrial/Chemical: Resistant to a wide range of acids, bases, and salts, making it useful in industrial fluid transport.
4. Installation Steps
AGM fittings use a solvent welding process, which molecularly fuses the pipe and fitting together for a leak-proof bond.
-
Cutting: Cut the 4″ uPVC pipe squarely. Use a deburring tool to remove all burrs from the inside and outside edges.
-
Cleaning: Clean the socket of the Tee and the end of the pipe with a clean, dry rag.
-
Priming: Apply a uPVC Primer to the outside of the pipe and the inside of the Tee socket.14 This softens the material for a better bond.
-
Cementing: Apply a liberal coat of uPVC Solvent Cement to the pipe and a thin layer to the Tee socket.
-
Joining: Quickly push the pipe into the Tee until it bottoms out. Give it a quarter turn as you push to ensure even cement distribution.
-
Curing: Hold for 30 seconds. Allow at least 15–30 minutes for handling and 24 hours before full pressure testing.
5. Key Advantages
-
Corrosion Resistance: Unlike metal, it will never rust or scale, even when buried in aggressive soils.15
-
Low Friction: The smooth interior allows for higher flow rates and less pumping energy.16
-
Durability: Designed for a service life of 50+ years when installed correctly.
-
Compliance: Meets SASO (Saudi Standards) and ASTM requirements.
