What is AGM upvc Tee 1-1/2″ ?
The AGM uPVC Tee (1-1/2″ Schedule 40) is a precision-engineered fitting manufactured by Arabian Gulf Manufacturers Ltd.1 (AGM) in Saudi Arabia.2 This specific size is a “workhorse” in the industry, commonly used for high-velocity HVAC condensate lines, residential water supply, and compact drainage systems.
1. Description & “HVAC” Context
While a Tee is a standard branching fitting, the 1-1/2″ (38mm) size is frequently labeled for HVAC applications because it is the standard diameter for condensate drain lines in large commercial AC units and chillers.
-
Material: Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC), which is more rigid and chemical-resistant than standard PVC.
-
Source: Imported from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, utilizing high-quality SABIC resin.
-
Color: White (standard for Sch 40).
2. Technical Specifications
AGM fittings are dual-certified, meaning they meet standards for both pressure (water supply) and non-pressure (sewerage/vent) applications.
| Feature | Specification |
| Nominal Size | 1-1/2 inch (Outer Diameter approx. 48.26 mm) |
| Wall Thickness | Schedule 40 (Approx. 3.68 mm) |
| Pressure Standards | ASTM D2466 (Poly Vinyl Chloride Plastic Pipe Fittings) |
| Drainage Standards | ASTM D2665 (Standard for Drain, Waste, and Vent) |
| Pressure Rating | Max approx. 330 PSI (at 23°C) |
| Temperature Range | Up to 60°C (140°F) |
| Connection Type | Solvent Weld (Socket) |
3. Usage & Applications
-
HVAC Systems: Primary and secondary condensate drain lines for Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs).
-
Potable Water: Distribution of cold water in residential and commercial plumbing.
-
Sewerage & Venting: Small-scale waste lines (sinks, basins) and air vent stacks (DWV).
-
Irrigation: Lateral lines for landscaping and agricultural drip systems.
4. Installation Guide
Installation relies on Solvent Welding, which creates a permanent chemical bond.
-
Preparation: Cut the 1-1/2″ pipe squarely. Use a knife or deburring tool to remove the internal and external burrs.
-
Dry Fit: Insert the pipe into the AGM Tee to ensure it reaches at least 1/3 to 2/3 of the socket depth before it gets tight.
-
Cleaning/Priming: Wipe both the pipe end and the Tee socket with a clean rag. Apply a uPVC primer to soften the plastic surfaces.
-
Cementing: Apply a layer of uPVC Solvent Cement to the outside of the pipe and a thin layer inside the Tee.
-
Assembly: Push the pipe into the Tee with a 1/4 turn to distribute the cement.11 Hold firmly for 30 seconds.
-
Curing: Let it set for 15 minutes before handling; wait 24 hours before performing a full-pressure test.
5. Why Choose AGM (Saudi Import)?
-
Lead-Free: AGM uses a lead-free formula, making it safe for drinking water.
-
UV Resistance: High-quality stabilizers help the fitting resist brittleness if exposed to sunlight during construction.
-
Consistency: Unlike local “generic” fittings, AGM’s injection molding ensures the socket diameter is perfectly consistent, reducing the risk of “loose” joints that leak under pressure.
