Description & Material Properties

The socket (also known as a coupling) is made from Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC). Because it is “un plasticized,” the material is rigid and strong, making it ideal for pressure applications.

Installation Instructions

For a leak-proof joint, follow these steps:

1. Preparation: Cut the uPVC pipe square (90°) using a pipe cutter or fine-toothed saw.⁶ Remove all burrs (rough edges) from the inside and outside of the pipe end.

2. Cleaning: Wipe the outside of the pipe and the inside of the AGM socket with a clean, dry rag to remove dust, oil, or moisture.

3. Dry Fit: Insert the pipe into the socket to ensure a snug fit before applying any adhesive.

4. Priming: Apply a uPVC primer to the pipe end and the inside of the socket.⁷ This softens the plastic for a better chemical bond.

5. Solvent Cementing: Apply an even layer of uPVC Solvent Cement to the pipe end and a thin layer inside the socket.

6. Joining: Immediately push the pipe into the socket with a slight 1/4 turn to distribute the cement.¹⁰ Hold firmly for about 30 seconds.

7. Curing: Wipe off excess cement.¹¹ Wait at least 15–30 minutes before handling and 24 hours before fully pressurizing the system.
