What is AGM upvc Elbow 3″ ?
The AGM UPVC Elbow (3″ Schedule 40) is a heavy-duty plumbing fitting manufactured by Arabian Gulf Manufacturers (AGM) in Saudi Arabia.1 At a 3-inch diameter, this fitting is primarily used for high-volume fluid transport, making it a staple in main drainage lines, sewerage systems, and HVAC condensate collection for large commercial buildings.
1. Description
An “Elbow” is a fitting used to change the direction of a pipeline, typically by 90 degrees (though 45-degree versions exist).2 This specific 3-inch model is made from high-grade Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride (UPVC), which is valued for its rigidity, chemical resistance, and smooth internal surface that prevents clogging.

3. Usage & Applications
The 3″ size is significantly larger than standard residential supply lines, making it suitable for:
-
Sewerage & Drainage: Ideal for horizontal or vertical waste lines (DWV systems) in houses and commercial complexes.
-
HVAC Systems: Used in large-scale air conditioning projects for central condensate drain manifolds where multiple units share a drainage line.
-
Water Supply: Suitable for main cold-water distribution lines or irrigation headers.
-
Industrial: Often used for chemical processing lines due to UPVC’s resistance to acids and alkalis.
4. Installation Guidelines
For a 3-inch fitting, precision is key because the larger surface area requires more solvent cement and faster assembly.
-
Preparation: Cut the 3″ pipe square.4 Use a file or deburring tool to create a slight bevel (chamfer) on the outside edge of the pipe; this prevents the glue from being pushed out of the joint during insertion.
-
Dry Fit: Test the fit by inserting the pipe into the elbow. It should go in about 1/3 to 2/3 of the way before becoming tight. Mark the depth with a marker.
-
Cleaning & Priming: Clean both the pipe and the inside of the elbow. Apply a heavy coat of purple primer to both surfaces.
-
Solvent Welding: Use a large-dauber PVC cement. Apply a thick layer to the pipe and a medium layer to the elbow socket.
-
Assembly: Push the pipe into the elbow until it hits the bottom. While pushing, turn the fitting 1/4 turn to ensure even glue distribution.
-
Setting: Hold the joint firmly for at least 60 seconds (larger pipes have more “push-back” force). Do not move the joint for 15 minutes.
5. Benefits of the Saudi AGM Brand
-
Durability: Saudi-manufactured UPVC is formulated to resist high UV exposure and extreme desert heat without becoming brittle.
-
Flow Efficiency: The interior is finished with a mirror-smooth surface to minimize friction loss and prevent “biofilm” or waste buildup.
-
Compliance: Fully compliant with Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) and American ASTM standards.
