What is Tee 90mm RAKtherm PPRc ?
Tee 90mm RAKtherm PPRc (Equal Tee) is a key fitting in the RAKtherm Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPRc / PP-R) piping system, imported from the UAE (manufactured by Gulf Plastic and Converting Industries / Tahweel in Ras Al Khaimah). It is rated PN 25 and designed for branching pressurized hot and cold water lines in plumbing, HVAC, and water supply applications.
Description
- Type: Equal Tee (T1-90) — all three outlets are 90mm, forming a T-shape for perpendicular branching of pipes of the same diameter.
- Material: High-quality PP-R (Polypropylene Random Copolymer), matching the pipes for thermal compatibility, fusion welding, and long-term durability. Non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and suitable for potable water.
- Design: Socket fusion ends for heat-welded connections. Provides smooth flow with minimal turbulence and full pressure integrity when properly installed.
- Key Features:
- Excellent resistance to chemicals, scaling, and corrosion.
- Low thermal conductivity and noise transmission.
- Lightweight yet robust.
- Long service life (50+ years under standard conditions).
- Hygienic for drinking water systems.
Specifications
- Size: 90mm (all branches equal).
- Pressure Rating: PN 25 (SDR 5 / Series 2 per DIN 8077/8078) — suitable for higher pressure demands; derates with temperature (e.g., full rating at 20°C, reduced at higher temps up to 95°C continuous for hot water).
- Temperature Range: Cold water to hot water (up to 70–95°C depending on pressure and application); short-term peaks higher.
- Weight: Approximately 0.850 kg per piece.
- Packing: Typically 1 piece per unit (larger sizes are packed individually).
- Standards: Complies with DIN 8077/8078 and relevant international norms for PPR systems. Part of the full RAKtherm range (pipes and fittings from 20mm to 110mm+).
- Color: Usually green (standard for RAKtherm PPRc).
Note: Reducing Tees (e.g., 90x63x90mm) are also available in the same PN 25 series for different branch sizes.
Usage
- Applications:
- Hot and cold potable water distribution in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- HVAC systems (chilled/hot water circulation).
- Underfloor heating and radiator connections.
- Pressurized fluid transport where branching is required.
- Ideal for main line branching to sub-lines while maintaining system pressure and flow.
Installation
RAKtherm PPR fittings use socket fusion welding (polyfusion) for permanent, leak-proof joints:
- Preparation: Cut pipes squarely, deburr, and clean surfaces. Use RAKtherm welding machine set to ~260°C.
- Heating: Heat the pipe end and fitting socket simultaneously for the recommended time (varies by size; follow tool guidelines).
- Joining: Insert pipe fully into the fitting without twisting, hold briefly for alignment, then allow cooling undisturbed.
- Support: Use appropriate pipe clips/brackets at recommended intervals to account for thermal expansion. Avoid stress on joints.
- Testing: Pressure test the system after installation.
General Guidelines:
- Follow RAKtherm technical manual for welding times, support spacing, and expansion provisions.
- Professional installation recommended for large diameters like 90mm.
- Compatible only with RAKtherm (or equivalent standard) PPR pipes of the same SDR/PN.
Advantages: Fast, reliable joints with no mechanical seals or threads in the main flow path — fusion creates a homogeneous connection stronger than the pipe itself.
