What is Reducer Socket 75x50mm EG PPRc ?
The EG PPRc Reducer Socket (75x50mm, PN25) is a high-grade thermoplastic fitting designed for transitioning from a 75mm main line to a 50mm branch line.EG (Euro-Gulf) engineered and manufactured this fitting for high-pressure and high-temperature environments in HVAC and plumbing.
1. Description & Key Features
The 75x50mm reducer is a “Socket Fusion” fitting, meaning it is joined to pipes using a heat-welding process that creates a leak-proof, monolithic bond.
-
Material: Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPR-C) Type 3.
-
Color: Typically Green (Standard for the EG range).
-
Pressure Rating: PN25 (SDR 5). This is the highest standard pressure class, rated for 25 bar (at 20°C).
-
Durability: Designed for a service life of 50+ years when operated within specified temperature and pressure limits.
2. Technical Specifications
| Feature | Detail |
| Inlet Diameter | 75mm (Outer Diameter) |
| Outlet Diameter | 50mm (Outer Diameter) |
| Nominal Pressure | PN25 (Max 362 psi / 25 bar) |
| Operating Temp. | -20°C to +95°C (Ideal for hot/cold/chilled water) |
| Standards | DIN 8077/78 (Dimensions), DIN 16962 (Fittings) |
| Thermal Conductivity | ~0.24 W/mK (Excellent insulation properties) |
3. Usage & Applications
This larger-sized reducer is commonly used in commercial and industrial settings:
-
HVAC Systems: Used in chilled water distribution for large-scale central air conditioning (FCUs/AHUs).
-
Hot & Cold Water: Main riser pipes in high-rise buildings where high pressure (PN25) is required to push water to upper floors.
-
Chilled Water Lines: Transitions between main delivery headers (75mm) and zone distribution pipes (50mm).
-
Industrial Plants: Transport of compressed air and various chemicals due to its high chemical resistance.
4. Installation (Socket Fusion Process)
Because this is a large fitting (75mm), professional welding equipment is required.
-
Cutting & Cleaning: Cut the 75mm and 50mm pipes perfectly square. Clean both the pipe and the socket with a lint-free cloth and alcohol.
-
Heating (260°C): Use a welding machine with 75mm and 50mm dies.
-
Heating Time for 75mm: ~30–40 seconds.
-
Heating Time for 50mm: ~18–24 seconds.
-
-
Joining: Remove from the heater and push the pipe into the socket without rotating. Ensure the pipe reaches the depth mark.
-
Cooling: Hold the joint steady for 30–45 seconds. Do not stress or pressure the joint for at least 15 minutes.
5. Key Advantages
-
Non-Toxic: Food-grade material that does not alter the taste or smell of potable water.
-
Corrosion Resistant: Will not rust or scale, even with aggressive “hard” water.
-
Noise Dampening: The thick PN25 walls reduce the sound of fluid velocity and water hammer.
-
Low Friction: The smooth inner surface prevents pressure drops and energy loss in HVAC pumps.
