What is Reducer Socket 110x63mm RAKtherm PPRc ?
The Reducer Coupling Socket (110x63mm) by RAKtherm is a heavy-duty industrial fitting designed for significant transitions in high-pressure fluid systems. Engineered as a PN 25 rated component, it excels in the most demanding areas of HVAC or potable water networks, including main plant room headers and vertical risers.
Description & Material Composition
This reducer is a “Socket” type fitting, meaning both the 110mm and 63mm ends are designed to receive pipes internally via heat fusion.
-
Material: Random Copolymer Polypropylene (PPR-C Type 3) with high molecular weight.
-
Design: Features a smooth internal taper to minimize pressure drop and turbulence during the transition from a 110mm main line to a 63mm branch or sub-main.
-
Standard: Manufactured according to DIN 8077/8078 and DVGW specifications.
Technical Specifications
The PN 25 rating indicates a thicker wall section compared to standard PN 20 fittings, providing superior resistance to “water hammer” and long-term thermal stress.
| Property | Value / Detail |
| Size (Inlet x Outlet) | 110mm x 63mm |
| Pressure Rating | PN 25 (2.5 MPa / 362 PSI) |
| Safety Factor | 1.5 (Standard for PPR-C) |
| Operating Temp Range | -20°C to +95°C |
| Expansion Coefficient | 0.15 mm/mK (Standard PPR-C) |
| Color | Typically Green (RAKtherm signature) |
Installation Guidelines
Given the large 110mm diameter, professional-grade fusion equipment is mandatory. Avoid using manual “hand-push” fusion for sizes larger than 63mm because it requires too much force.
-
Welding Temperature: Constant at 260°C.
-
For the 110mm side, use a bench-type fusion machine or a centering device to ensure the pipe enters the socket perfectly straight.
-
Heating Times:
-
110mm side: ~50 seconds heating / 15 seconds welding / 10 minutes cooling.
-
63mm side: ~24 seconds heating / 8 seconds welding / 6 minutes cooling.
-
-
Depth Entry: Ensure the 110mm pipe is marked at the correct insertion depth (approx. 32-35mm) to prevent over-insertion, which can “choke” the flow at the reduction point.
Professional Usage & Applications
The 110x63mm reduction is a “jump-size” transition often used in the following scenarios:
-
HVAC Plant Rooms: Transitioning from the main chiller/boiler header (110mm) down to secondary distribution lines (63mm) that feed specific floors or zones.
-
High-Rise Hot Water Risers: PN 25 is essential in the lower floors of skyscrapers where the static head pressure of the water column is at its peak.
-
Industrial cooling applications rely on this fitting for process water cooling, where it provides both chemical resistance and high-pressure integrity..
-
Hot and cold water manifolds are perfect for large commercial complexes that need to reduce pressure and flow rate for localized water distribution.
