What is Female Socket 20×1/2″ RAKtherm PPRc ?
The RAKtherm PPRc Female Socket 20mm x 1/2″ PN 25 is a premium, heavy-duty transition fitting manufactured in the UAE by Hashim Industry. Designed specifically for high-pressure and high-temperature environments, this fitting features a robust, corrosion-resistant brass insert to securely bridge PPRc pipe networks with threaded metallic fixtures, valves, pumps, or HVAC equipment.
1. Description & Overview Female Socket 20×1/2″ RAKtherm PPRc
The RAKtherm Female Socket combines a premium Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PP-R Grade 100) plastic body with an integrated, knurled DZR (Dezincification Resistant) Brass internal thread. The heavy-wall “PN 25” construction signifies a 25-bar nominal pressure rating, making it highly engineered to handle extreme hydrostatic pressure, thermal expansion, and mechanical torque during installation. It is a critical component for transferring a plastic pipeline into a mechanical, threaded system.

3. System Applications & Usage
The PN 25 rating and robust brass transition interface make this 20×1/2″ female socket essential for:
-
HVAC Water Supply Integration: Connecting 20mm PPRc branch lines directly to fan coil units (FCUs), air handling unit (AHU) control valves, pressure gauges, and air vents.
-
Sanitary Mixer & Valve Connections: Installing concealed shower mixers, wall-mounted bathroom taps, angle valves, and hot/cold water manifold systems.
-
Equipment Tie-Ins: Connecting plumbing networks to water heaters, pumps, and storage tanks where a removable mechanical threaded connection is required.
-
Corrosion Resistance: The specialized brass insert prevents galvanic corrosion when transitioning from metallic machinery to the PPRc system.
4. Installation & Connection Guidelines
Because this is a hybrid fitting (plastic fusion on one end, metallic thread on the other), precise installation is vital to prevent mechanical stress leaks.
Threaded Connection Steps (1/2″ Female Side)
-
Thread Preparation: Wrap the male mating thread with high-quality PTFE (Teflon) tape or an approved pipe thread sealant.
-
Hand Tighten First: Thread the male component into the 1/2″ RAKtherm brass socket by hand to ensure no cross-threading occurs.
-
Mechanical Tightening: Tighten using a proper spanner or pipe wrench.
Important: Do not over-torque. Excessive force can crack the outer PPRc plastic casing surrounding the brass insert. Never use jawed wrenches directly on the green plastic body; apply tools only to the designated hexagonal flats on the brass insert.
Socket Fusion Parameters (20mm Plastic Side)
-
Welding Tool Temperature: $260^\circ\text{C} \pm 10^\circ\text{C}$
-
Heating Time: 5 Seconds
-
Assembly / Joining Time: 4 Seconds maximum
-
Cooling Time: 2 Minutes minimum
Step-by-Step Socket Fusion
-
Cut and Square: Cut the 20mm PN 25 PPRc pipe at a clean $90^\circ$ angle. Ensure the pipe end and the internal socket of the female adapter are clean and dry.
-
Mark Depth: Mark a 14mm insertion depth on the pipe.
-
Heat: Push the pipe and the 20mm plastic end of the female socket onto the welding adapters simultaneously for 5 seconds.
-
Join: Pull them off the iron and push the pipe straight into the socket up to the marked depth line. Do not twist during insertion to preserve a perfect dual-homogenous weld ring. Hold still for 4 seconds.
-
Cool Down: Allow the connection to sit entirely undisturbed for 2 minutes before handling. Wait a full 24 hours before conducting a system pressure test.
