What is End Cap 20mm RAKtherm PPRc ?
Gulf Plastic Industries manufactures the premium RAKtherm 20mm End Cap (PN25) in the UAE. This fusion-welded fitting effectively seals the dead end of a 20mm PPR-C pipe run, whether for permanent or temporary use.
Featuring a PN25 (Pressure Nominal 25 bar) rating, this end cap has significantly thicker walls than standard fittings. It is engineered to withstand the intense hydraulic pressure, water hammer, and thermal stresses that occur at terminal points in mechanical piping networks.

Key Structural Features:
-
Terminal Reinforcement: Extra material thickness at the base dome to absorb the force of water hammer (hydraulic shock waves).
-
High Thermal Capacity: Rated for continuous operation up to 95°C, keeping it highly stable in boiling water loops.
-
Hygiene & Safety: Certified for potable drinking water; inner walls prevent biofilm accumulation and scale build-up.
3. Usage & Applications
Because terminal points experience high pressure accumulation, the PN25 20mm end cap is widely deployed across demanding setups:
-
HVAC Chilled & Heated Water Loop Closures: Seals off the terminal ends of dual-temperature hydronic circuits and fan coil unit (FCU) bypass lines.
-
High-Rise Riser Terminations: Caps the top ends of vertical hot and cold water distribution mains where static pressure peaks.
-
Manifold Block-offs: Used to close unused ports on constructed PPR-C distribution manifolds.
-
System Pressure Testing: Temporarily or permanently welded to line ends during hydrostatic pressure testing to verify system integrity up to 15–20 bar.
4. Installation & Polyfusion Welding Guidelines
Achieving a leak-proof molecular bond requires strict adherence to standard socket fusion metrics. Because 20mm components heat up very quickly, precision timing is essential.
Fusion Parameters for 20mm PPR-C:
-
Welding Tool Temperature: $260^\circ\text{C} \pm 10^\circ\text{C}$
-
Heating Time: 5 seconds (Time pipe and cap must remain on the heating dies)
-
Processing Time: 4 seconds max (Maximum window to join the components)
-
Cooling Time: 2 minutes (Time required before the joint can take mechanical stress)
Step-by-Step Installation Steps:
-
Cut the Pipe: Ensure the 20mm PPR-C pipe is cut perfectly square using a dedicated pipe cutter.
-
Clean & Depth Mark: Clean the inside of the end cap socket and the outside of the pipe. Mark a fusion depth of exactly 14.0 mm on the pipe. Do not skip marking, as pushing a 20mm pipe too far can easily restrict or completely block the internal waterway.
-
Heat Simultaneously: Push the pipe and the end cap onto the $260^\circ\text{C}$ welding tools. Hold them firmly in place for exactly 5 seconds.
-
Join Smoothly: Pull them straight off the tools and smoothly push the pipe into the end cap until the depth line is reached. Do not twist or rotate the parts during insertion.
-
Hold and Cool: Hold the joint completely still for 4 seconds to allow the plastic to set. Let it air-cool naturally for 2 minutes before running pressure tests or anchoring the pipe.
