What is Elbow male 20×1/2″ Brass RAKtherm PPRc ?
The RAKtherm PPRc Elbow Male 20 × 1/2″ Brass PN 25 is a 90-degree transition fitting that connects a 20 mm PPR pipe to a 1/2-inch male BSP brass threaded connection. It is designed for hot and cold potable water systems, HVAC chilled and hot water distribution, and other pressurized piping applications. One end is joined to the PPR pipe by socket fusion (heat welding), while the brass male thread connects to threaded valves, taps, pumps, meters, or other fittings. RAKtherm PPR piping systems are manufactured to German standards and are intended for long-term service in plumbing and HVAC installations.

Installation Procedure
- Cut the 20 mm PPR pipe square and remove any burrs.
- Clean the pipe and fitting surfaces.
- Heat the pipe and the PPR socket using a calibrated fusion welding machine (typically around 260°C) for the recommended heating time.
- Push the pipe fully into the fitting without twisting and hold it until the joint cools.
- Wrap PTFE thread sealing tape or apply a suitable thread sealant to the 1/2″ male brass thread.
- Tighten the threaded connection with a wrench applied to the brass portion only. Avoid applying excessive torque to the PPR body.
- Allow the fusion joint to cool completely before pressure testing the system.
Usage
The Elbow Male 20 × 1/2″ Brass is commonly used where a 90-degree change in direction and a transition from PPR piping to a male threaded connection are required, such as:
- Bathroom and kitchen water supply lines.
- Water heater connections.
- Pump and pressure vessel installations.
- HVAC fan coil unit (FCU) and air handling unit (AHU) piping.
- Plumbing manifolds and valve assemblies.
Advantages
- Leak-free heat-fused PPR connection.
- Durable brass threaded interface for secure mechanical connections.
- Excellent resistance to corrosion and scale formation.
- Hygienic, non-toxic material suitable for drinking water.
- High pressure and temperature performance (PN 25).
- Low maintenance requirements.
- Long service life of up to 50 years under normal operating conditions.
- Fully compatible with RAKtherm PN 25 PPR pipes and fittings.
