What is Elbow Female 20×1/2″ Brass RAKtherm PPRc ?
This is one of the most common transition fittings in RAKtherm PPRc systems in Pakistan.
Elbow Female 20 x 1/2″ Brass RAKtherm PPRc PN25 – Imported from UAE
1. What it is
A 90-degree elbow that connects a 20mm PPRc pipe to a 1/2″ female threaded metal fitting. One end is PPRc socket for heat-fusion welding, the other end has a brass insert with 1/2″ BSP female thread.
It is used where your PPR line has to turn 90 degrees and connect to a tap, mixer, angle valve, geyser connection, or GI / brass fixture.
RAKtherm is manufactured in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE (Dubai) using 3rd generation Polypropylene Random Copolymer technology, food-grade raw material. Size range available from 20mm to 110mm, with PN10, PN20, PN25 pipes and PN25 fittings.

- Standards: Produced according to DIN 8077 and DIN 8078, DIN 8076 for metal threaded joints, DIN 2999
Technical Performance:
- Temperature Range: -20°C to 90°C continuous, up to 95°C short-term. Freezing point below -17°C
- Pressure/Temp relation for PN25: Can withstand 20 bar in cold water, approx 10 bar at 65°C hot water. Test pressure 65 bar, burst pressure 103 bar per standard PPR catalogue. RAKtherm recommends checking its temperature derating chart for continuous hot water.
- Lifespan: 50 years at 20°C and 20 bar pressure
- Flow: Low-friction inner surface, about 20% higher flow rate than standard pipes
- Hygiene: No change in color, taste, or odor of water.
Dimensions (typical for 20×1/2″ Female Elbow per catalogue):
- d (PPR inner socket): 19.5mm
- G: 1/2″
- L approx: 36mm, L1 31mm, L2 14.5mm fusion depth
3. Usage / Application
This fitting is a core solution for hot and cold water and HVAC water supply:
- Residential & Commercial: Bungalows, plazas, high-rise towers, apartments, hotels
- Systems: Domestic hot and cold water distribution, chilled water for HVAC, compressed air and liquid distribution
- Function: Transition from PPRc network to threaded fixtures – wall mixers, basin mixers, shower connections, geyser inlets/outlets, washing machine taps, toilet cisterns.
- Where it is used: Under plaster (concealed) and over plaster installations. The double-wall disc / wall-plate version is used for fixing to wall.
It is suitable for both hot and cold water supply systems in residential and commercial buildings.
4. Installation Method
Tools: PPR fusion machine (200-260°C), 20mm head, pipe cutter, marker, spirit level.
Steps:
- Cut & Clean: Cut 20mm PN25 pipe square. Clean pipe and fitting socket. Do not thread or glue – connection is by socket fusion.
- Heating: Set fusion machine to 260°C (RAKtherm standard for Heat Joint 200°C to 260°C). For 20mm: heat pipe 5-6 seconds, fitting 5 seconds.
- Fusion: Push pipe into female PPR side of elbow without twisting, hold 6-8 seconds for cooling. This creates permanent leak-free joint.
- Threaded side: On the 1/2″ brass female side, use Teflon tape + hemp / thread sealant to connect to male threaded fixture (tap, nipple). Do not weld this side. Tighten with pincers / adjustable wrench but do not over-torque – brass insert can crack PPR if over-tightened. The fitting is female threaded and can be tightened by using pincers.
- Testing: After 1 hour, pressure test at 1.5x working pressure (typically 10-12 bar for domestic). Check both fusion and threaded joint.
Precautions:
- Do not expose to open flame after installation.
- For hot water / HVAC lines, leave expansion loop every 3 meters – PPR expands.
- Use original RAKtherm PN25 pipe with PN25 fittings only.
- For external installation, use RAKtherm aluminum foiled STABI pipe to reduce heat expansion.
