What is Reducer Socket 63x25mm RAKtherm PPRc ?
RAKtherm Reducer Socket 63x25mm PPRc PN25 – UAE Import
Used for hot & cold water and HVAC water supply systems. RAKtherm is a UAE-based PPR manufacturer, and this fitting is commonly distributed across GCC and MENA regions.
1. Product Description
What it is
A PPR reducing socket connects two Polypropylene Random Copolymer pipes of different diameters — in this case 63mm to 25mm — while keeping a leak-proof, fused joint.
Material
Made from Polypropylene Random Copolymer Type 3 (PPRc), food-grade and non-toxic. PPRc is known for high resistance to corrosion, chemicals, deposits, and scaling. It’s healthy and safe for drinking water.
Pressure Rating: PN25
PN25 means the fitting is rated for 25 bar nominal pressure at 20°C. PN25 is the heavy-duty grade for PPR, used for hot water, HVAC, and high-pressure applications.
RAKtherm Specifics
RAKtherm is a German-engineered, UAE-manufactured brand. RAKtherm PPR systems meet DIN 8077/8078 and DIN EN 15874 standards. Warranty on RAKtherm PPR is typically 30 years in the Saudi/GCC market.

3. Installation Method – Socket Fusion
PPR fittings like this are joined by socket fusion welding, not threading or gluing.
Tools needed: PPR welding machine with 63mm and 25mm dies, pipe cutter, reamer/deburrer, measuring tape, marker, clean cloth.
Steps:
- Cut: Cut both 63mm and 25mm pipes square. Remove burrs.
- Mark: Mark the welding depth on each pipe end.
- Heat: Set fusion machine to ∼260°C. Heat the socket and pipe end simultaneously using correct dies.
- Typical heating time: 63mm ≈ 24 sec, 25mm ≈ 7 sec. Check RAKtherm table.
- Join: Push pipe into socket axially without twisting. Hold for cooling time.
- Cool: Allow joint to cool completely before pressure testing.
- Test: Pressure test to 1.5x working pressure for 1000+ hours per DIN. RAKtherm tests to 4000+ hours.
Key notes:
- Ensure pipes are clean and dry.
- Use same brand PPR for pipe + fitting to ensure material compatibility.
- No cement or glue used — fusion creates monolithic, leak-proof joint.
4. Usage & Applications
- Potable Water Supply: Safe for drinking water hot & cold lines.
- HVAC: Chilled water and heating circuits due to PN25 rating and 100°C tolerance.
- Transition Fitting: Steps down from 63mm main line to 25mm branch line. Common in risers, headers, and distribution.
- Residential/Commercial/Industrial: Used where pipe size reduction is needed.
- Irrigation & Greenhouse: Also used in pressurized irrigation systems.
Advantages over metal:
- No corrosion or rust
- Lightweight = faster install
- Low heat loss = energy efficient for hot water
- Smooth bore = no scaling, consistent flow
5. Important Selection Tips
- PN Rating: PN25 is for hot water & high pressure. For cold water only, PN10/PN16 is cheaper, but PN25 gives future-proofing.
- UV Exposure: If pipes are exposed to sunlight, use RAKtherm “UV tubes” or insulate.
- Expansion: PPR expands more than metal. Use expansion loops/offsets in long runs.
- Sizing: 63x25mm means 63mm OD to 25mm OD. Check if your 25mm is 1/2″ or 3/4″ nominal — 25mm PPR ≈ 3/4″
