What is PPR Pipe 40mm Q-Therm imported ?
Description
The PPR Pipe 40mm Q-Therm PN20 is a high-quality, three-layer polypropylene random copolymer (PPR) pipe imported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of the Q-Therm piping system. Q-Therm is a complete plumbing solution designed for durability, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability, making it ideal for modern plumbing installations. This specific model features a green outer layer (standard for hot/cold water lines), with inner layers optimized for hygiene and strength. It is produced to international standards like ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, ensuring reliability in demanding environments. The pipe’s low thermal conductivity (approximately 0.24 W/m·K) helps maintain water temperature, reducing energy loss compared to metal pipes.
Specifications
The following table outlines the key technical specifications for the 40mm Q-Therm PN20 PPR pipe:
| Parameter | Value/Detail |
|---|---|
| Nominal Diameter (OD) | 40 mm |
| Wall Thickness | 5.5 mm (for PN20 rating) |
| Standard Dimension Ratio (SDR) | 6 (high-pressure class) |
| Pressure Rating | PN20 (suitable for up to 20 bar at 20°C; derates with temperature) |
| Length per Piece | 4 meters |
| Material | Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPR), three-layer construction |
| Color | Green (outer layer) |
| Temperature Range | -20°C to +95°C (continuous hot water up to 70°C at PN20) |
| Thermal Conductivity | 0.24 W/m·K (energy-efficient) |
| Weight per Meter | Approximately 0.85–0.95 kg (varies slightly by manufacturer) |
| Certifications | ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, OHSAS (food-grade inner layer for potable water) |
| Packaging | Polybag and cartons; minimum order quantity (MOQ) typically 300m |
These specs align with DIN 8077/8078 standards for PPR pipes, ensuring compatibility with global plumbing systems.
Usage
This pipe is primarily used for hot and cold water distribution in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Its PN20 rating makes it suitable for high-pressure applications, including:
- Potable drinking water supply systems.
- Hot water recirculation lines (e.g., underfloor heating or solar heating).
- Compressed air systems and chemical conveyance (non-aggressive fluids).
- Plumbing in buildings, hospitals, hotels, and industrial plants.
Key advantages include:
- Non-corrosive and hygienic (no scaling or bacterial growth).
- Long service life (up to 50 years).
- Eco-friendly and recyclable, with low energy loss for hot water transport.
- Resistant to chemicals, UV (with coating), and thermal expansion.
It is not recommended for gas lines or highly abrasive fluids.
Installation
Installation of the Q-Therm PN20 PPR pipe uses a heat fusion (thermo fusion) method, ensuring leak-proof, homogeneous joints without additional sealants. Follow these steps for safe and efficient setup:
- Preparation:
- Cut pipes to required length using a sharp PPR cutter for clean, square ends.
- Mark insertion depth on the pipe (typically 15–20 mm for 40mm fittings).
- Clean pipe and fitting ends to remove dust or debris.
- Heating:
- Use a dedicated PPR welding machine set to 260°C ±10°C.
- Insert the pipe and matching fitting into the heater sleeve and bush simultaneously for 10–15 seconds (adjust based on ambient temperature; do not overheat to avoid deformation).
- Fusion:
- Quickly remove heated ends and insert pipe into fitting, applying even pressure until it reaches the marked depth.
- Hold in place for 10–20 seconds to allow cooling and bonding. Full curing takes 30 minutes; avoid stress during this time.
- Testing and Support:
- Pressure-test the system at 1.5x operating pressure (e.g., 30 bar for PN20) for 1–2 hours after full cooling.
- Secure pipes with clips/spacers every 0.5–1 meter horizontally and 1–1.5 meters vertically to allow for thermal expansion (coefficient: 0.00015/°C).
- For buried installations, embed in sand bedding; avoid direct contact with sharp aggregates.
