What is Hydroplast sch 80 Double union Check valve 1-1/4″ ?
- Material: Made from UPVC (Un plasticized Polyvinyl Chloride), a durable plastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, high strength, and resistance to corrosion, rust, and scaling. Schedule 80 indicates a thicker wall than Schedule 40, allowing it to withstand higher pressure applications.
- Size: The nominal pipe size of 1-1/4″ (DN32) indicates the inner diameter that it connects with.
- Type: Double Union Check Valve. This design features two unions (threaded or socketed connections with a nut that can be unscrewed) on either side of the valve body. This allows for easy installation, removal, and maintenance of the valve without having to cut the pipeline.
- Check Valve Function: A check valve is a one-way valve that allows flow in only one direction and automatically prevents backflow when the flow stops or reverses.
- Design: These valves often feature a swing check or a ball check mechanism inside the valve body to control the flow. Some may have a spring-assisted closure for faster shutoff. The body might be transparent UPVC, allowing visual inspection of the valve’s operation.
- Pressure and Temperature Rating: The maximum pressure rating is often around 150 PSI (10 bar) to 235 PSI (16 bar) at 70°F (21°C), but this can vary by manufacturer and specific model. The maximum service temperature is usually around 131°F (55°C) to 140°F (60°C).
- Connection Type: Usually features socket end connections for solvent welding to UPVC pipes or threaded (MNPT) connections. The “double union” part means it has unions on both ends, regardless of the primary connection type (socket or thread).
- Installation: Typically designed for vertical installation with upward flow, especially for non-spring swing check valves. Install the valve according to the flow direction indicated by the arrow on the valve body.
