Installation (Socket Fusion Welding)

Tools Required

• Socket fusion welding machine (260°C ±10°C)

• Rotary pipe cutter or plastic-specific saw

• Deburring/peeling tool (calibrated for 25mm & 20mm)

• Digital thermometer with surface sensor

• Clean cloth or acetone for cleaning

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Prepare the pipes

   • Cut 25mm and 20mm pipes squarely using rotary cutter

   • Deburr internal/external edges; remove all chips/swarf

   • Clean socket and spigot with anhydrous alcohol or acetone if oily

2. Peel & chamfer pipe ends

   • Use calibrated peeling tool to remove oxidized layer

   • For 25mm: calibration diameter = 24.90±0.05mm, length = 16mm

   • For 20mm: calibration diameter = 19.90±0.05mm, length = 14mm

3. Heat the joint

   • Set fusion tool to 260°C (250–270°C range)

   • Verify temperature with digital thermometer

   • Insert pipe end and fitting socket onto heating bush simultaneously

   • Heating time for 25mm: 7 seconds

   • Heating time for 20mm: 5 seconds

4. Join immediately

   • Remove pipe and fitting from heater simultaneously

   • Insert pipe into socket to full depth without rotation

   • Align correctly; hold for adjusting time (4 seconds)

5. Cool naturally

   • Hold joint stationary for cooling time: 2 minutes

   • Do not disturb during cooling

   • Do not pressurize for minimum 1 hour

6. Inspect & test

   • Correct joint shows twin parallel weld beads around circumference

   • Conduct pressure testing per local codes after cooling
