What is AGM upvc Elbow 3/4″ 45* ?
-
A pipe fitting made of un plasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC / PVC-U) — a rigid, durable plastic.
-
Sized for 3/4-inch nominal pipes.
-
45° elbow — changes flow direction by 45 degrees.
-
Schedule 40 (SCH 40) — standard wall thickness with moderate pressure rating (typical for plumbing).
-
Imported from Saudi Arabia (AGM brand) and manufactured to ASTM UPVC fitting standards.
It’s used in systems for water supply, drainage/sewerage, HVAC AC drainage, and general liquid piping.
🧱 Material & Characteristics
Material:
-
UPVC (Un plasticized PVC) — a strong, rigid thermoplastic without added plasticizers.
Key Properties:
-
Corrosion-resistant: Doesn’t rust like metal pipes.
-
Chemical-resistant: Handles many sewer/drain chemicals.
-
Smooth internal surface: Reduces friction, improves flow.
-
White color: Standard for UPVC plumbing and drainage.
-
Operates up to ~60 °C in typical service.
UPVC is not used for hot water supply above ~60 °C — for higher temperatures CPVC or metal is preferred.

🔧 Installation & Joining
Installation Method:
AGM UPVC elbows are usually joined to UPVC pipe with solvent cement (solvent welding). This creates a strong, permanent, leak-resistant bond when done correctly.
Installation Steps:
-
Cut and prepare the pipe:
-
Trim the pipe square and remove burrs/debris.
-
-
Clean & prime:
-
(If required by code) use a UPVC primer on pipe end and fitting socket.
-
-
Apply solvent cement:
-
Coat both the pipe end and inside socket of the elbow with UPVC solvent cement.
-
-
Assemble:
-
Insert pipe into fitting fully with a slight twist.
-
Hold until set.
-
-
Cure:
-
Let the solvent glue properly cure before testing the system.
-
Important: Follow solvent cement manufacturer instructions for temperature and curing times.
💧 Usage & Typical Applications
1) Sewerage & Drainage
-
Directs wastewater or gravity sewer lines around corners.
-
Useful in HVAC drain lines where slight directional changes reduce backpressure.
2) Water Supply (Cold)
-
Used in cold potable water distribution or general cold water lines.
-
UPVC’s smooth bore improves flow and reduces resistance.
3) HVAC (Condensate & Drain)
-
Ideal for HVAC condensate drains (AC drip lines) or HVAC service drainage runs.
-
A 45° transition is often more gradual than a 90° bend, reducing turbulence.
4) Irrigation & Misc Systems
-
Suitable for garden irrigation, outdoor drain piping, or low-pressure fluid systems.
🧠 Benefits
✔ Durable & long-lasting: UPVC resists corrosion and many sewage chemicals.
✔ Lightweight: Easier to handle & install than metal.
✔ Low cost: Economical choice for many plumbing applications.
✔ Smooth flow: Better hydraulic performance than rougher materials.
⚠️ Limitations
❗ Temperature limits: UPVC softens at higher temperatures — not for hot water systems > 60 °C.
❗ UV exposure: Prolonged sunlight may degrade plastic unless protected.
❗ Pressure derating: SCH 40 has a moderate pressure rating; heavy industrial use may require thicker walls (SCH 80) or different materials.
