What is Reducing Tee 75x50mm EG PPRc ?
A Reducing Tee 75x50mm EG PPRc PN25 is a high-performance piping component used to create a branch in a main line.1 In this specific configuration, it connects a 75mm main pipeline to a 50mm branch line, allowing for a controlled transition in fluid volume and pressure.
The PN25 rating indicates it is built for extreme pressure, far exceeding standard residential requirements, which makes it ideal for heavy-duty HVAC and commercial water systems.
1. General Description
-
Material: Polypropylene Random Copolymer (PPRc) Type 3.3 This material is biologically neutral, corrosion-resistant, and maintains its strength at high temperatures.
-
Brand (EG): Often associated with Euro Gulf or similar high-specification manufacturers from the Saudi/Middle Eastern region, known for strict adherence to international quality standards.
-
Function: It acts as a three-way junction where the “run” (straight through) is 75mm and the “branch” (offshoot) is 50mm.
2. Technical Specifications
This fitting is typically manufactured to meet DIN 8077/8078 or ISO 15874 standards.5
| Feature | Specification |
| Size | 75mm (Main) x 50mm (Branch) x 75mm (Main) |
| Pressure Class | PN 25 (Nominal Pressure of 25 Bar / ~362 PSI) |
| Temperature Range | Long-term use up to 70°C; short-term peaks up to 95°C |
| SDR Rating | Typically SDR 5 (thick-walled for high pressure) |
| Jointing Method | Socket Fusion Welding |
| Service Life | Designed for 50+ years under rated conditions |
3. Usage & Applications
The PN25 rating makes this tee suitable for the most demanding environments:
-
HVAC Systems: Used in Chilled Water Risers and central air conditioning networks. The thick walls (PN25) provide the necessary safety margin for the high static pressures found in multi-story buildings.
-
Water Supply: Ideal for Main Risers in commercial buildings where a 75mm main line needs to feed a 50mm sub-main or floor distribution line.
-
Industrial Plants: Suitable for compressed air lines and the transport of certain chemical fluids due to its high chemical resistance.
4. Installation & Fusion Process
PPRc fittings are joined through Heat Fusion, which creates a permanent, leak-proof bond.
-
Cutting: Use a professional PPR pipe cutter to ensure a square, clean cut on both the 75mm and 50mm pipes.
-
Cleaning: Wipe the pipe ends and the internal sockets of the tee with a clean cloth. Any dust or grease can compromise the weld.
-
Heating: Use a socket fusion machine set to 260°C.
-
75mm end: Heat for approx. 30 seconds.
-
50mm branch: Heat for approx. 18 seconds
-
-
Joining: Push the pipe into the fitting socket until it reaches the specified depth mark. Do not twist the pipe during insertion.
-
Cooling: Hold the joint steady for about 30–40 seconds. Allow at least 10 minutes for the 75mm joint to cool completely before applying any mechanical stress.
5. Key Advantages
-
Leak-Proof: The fusion process makes the pipe and fitting a single continuous piece of material.
-
High Insulation: PPRc has low thermal conductivity (12$0.24$ W/mK), which reduces heat loss in hot water systems and prevents condensation in chilled water HVAC systems.
-
Non-Toxic: It is completely safe for potable (drinking) water and does not change the taste or odor of the water.14
