What is Male Socket 25×1/2″ EG PPRc ?
The “EG” stands for Embedded Galva (or Electro-Galvanized), referring to the metal-threaded insert that provides mechanical strength and prevents the plastic threads from stripping or leaking under high torque.
1. Technical Specifications
This fitting is rated for high-stress environments, particularly those involving high-rise plumbing or industrial HVAC.
| Feature | Specification |

2. Description & Key Features
-
Transition Strength: The male threaded metal insert is deeply embedded into the PPRc body during injection molding, ensuring it won’t pull out or rotate when tightened.
-
High Pressure (PN 25): While PN 20 is standard for many homes, PN 25 offers a thicker wall and higher safety margin, making it the preferred choice for HVAC chilled water and high-pressure pumps.
-
Non-Corrosive: The PPRc exterior is immune to rust and chemical reactions from concrete or soil, while the internal metal insert is typically treated to resist dezincification.
-
Low Friction: The smooth internal bore prevents lime scaling and ensures maximum water flow.
3. Usage & Applications
-
HVAC Systems: Connecting branch lines to fan coil units (FCUs) or radiators.
-
Hot/Cold Water Supply: The primary fitting used to connect PPRc piping to washbasin mixers, shower valves, or water heaters.
-
Compressed Air: Used in industrial settings for pneumatic lines due to its high pressure rating.
-
Solar Systems: Connecting solar collector manifolds to the main distribution network.
4. Installation & Welding Guide
The connection involves two distinct steps: Heat Fusion for the plastic side and Mechanical Threading for the metal side.
-
Cutting: Use a PPRc pipe cutter to make a square cut on the 25mm pipe.
-
Heating: Set your welding machine to $260^{\circ}C$.
-
Push the 25mm pipe and the plastic end of the socket onto the heating dies.
-
Heating Time: Hold for 7 seconds.
-
-
Joining: Pull them off and push the pipe into the socket immediately. Hold for 15–20 seconds without twisting.
-
Threading: * Apply PTFE (Teflon) tape to the 1/2″ male threads of the fitting.
-
Caution: Avoid using natural hemp fiber; if it absorbs water, it can swell and exert internal pressure that might crack the metal insert over time.
-
Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench for a final half-turn. Do not overtighten.
